Representations and Narratology: Lupin
Lupin Plot:
- Assane works as a janitor in the Louvre
- Meets Claire, gives money for child support (save the cat)
- Goes into impoverished neighbourhood (Banlieue) and talks to thugs, we learn Assane is struggling with money and owes lone sharks money, negotiates plan to steal Antoinette's necklace.
- Flashback: Assane and Babakar meet the Pellegrinis, clear racism (kick the dog)
- Assane goes to auction with intent for heist, sees Juliet
- Flashback: Assane and Juliet kiss at pool after racist remark.
- Assane wins necklace under false identity
- Assane backstabbed by lone sharks, we are under the influence the plan has messed up.
- Flashback: reveals Assane's fathers story which subsequently lead to his death and overall reveals Assanes motive.
- Big reveal, Assane was in control the entire time, he used his janitor job to his advantage and used a replica of the necklace to throw people off. Intertextual reference: Assane shaped by Marice LeBlanc's French classic detective novel.
- Sees son, passes down the book.
- Detective on Hassan's trail (false name: Paul Sernine → Arsene Lupin)
